Because You Love Me
Cassandra Bird
I told You I was tired,
You let me fall asleep on your shoulder.
I told You I couldn't walk any further,
You picked me up and carried me.
I told You not to walk in front of me,
You said "I will not follow".
I told You not to walk behind me,
You said "I will not lead".
I asked You "Where will You walk?",
You said "Beside you and be your friend.
I told You that You made me unhappy,
You said it wasn't You.
I told you to leave me alone, to let me be,
You apologised for what You never did.
I shut my eyes, to block out Your image,
You said to me "Open them".
I began to weep profusely,
You moved forward to embrace me.
I asked You "Why?",
You said "Because I love You".
