Death

Joanne Kersey

We don't wish to think about it,

Though it's certain to come.

How will we handle it?,

When finding places to run.

Away from the pain,

Our suffering and tears,

Away from reality, that everyone fears.

How will it happen,

Will it be slow and drawn out.

These are the things we daren't think about.

Will it be fast?,

No pain will we suffer.

But to those left behind,

No times could be tougher.

It's here we must learn,

Life's what you make it.

Grasp on, be happy and never forsake it.

Let feelings be known,

Before times all but out,

Whisper it, sign it, or simply just shout.

For when we are gone,

No longer able to hold.

Those we love dearly, and wished we had told.

That it's not what they've done, nor bought or seen,

It's the happiness in our hearts,

Of the love that they bring.

Those that have shared thoughts, with compassion in speaking,

These are the emotions, we truly are seeking.

If you love someone tell them,

It's not hard, you'll find out,

For happiness within ourselves, is what true loves about.
