Mud
Gary Langford
We think mud comes with rain.
What if this isn't true?
We are mud like inclined in views.
Much of what we follow
has muddy instructions.
Mud liars usually run countries,
convincing enough for a time.
Then there are revolutions,
only to find mud remains.
Love briefly transcends matter,
smirking in murky sound.
We believe the best chapters are ours.
We forget the rest, calling them mud.
The disciples of mud chortle,
believe it or not, so do I.
They are the followers of the Muddish faith:
birth - strong on mud production;
marriage - literally loving mud;
death - beyond mud like thoughts.
We sob or boldly call out mud,
revealing then transfixed by laughter,
raw mudded to the core.
