Susie

Jess Lemon

Broken glassy contact, sliding
met by cold, dead forceful stares
new doors slammed and old ties broken
a family stretched beyond repair

At this great distance, your depth becomes clear
a watery chasm of treasured pain
so from the past our eyes shall wander
to where you lay, tethered and maimed

Eternally distant in your murky depths
you're clouded from our busy view
shrouded in Anger's vengeful veil
leaving of you, no visible clue

At this we ponder, red and sore
stung from past blows, old and new
questioning this black woman, found
ravaged by cold, the spiteful Blue
