True Friendship
Nicholas Page
My life was just drifting, my direction unseen.
Lonely, lost and undriven, on no-one could I lean.
For years it seemed helpless. Was it destined to be?
Shallow, empty and hollow. This? All life offered me?
Then when I thought all was lost. A familiar face neared.
I was beside myself, smiling. For an angel appeared.
Without question, or pause. You came straight to my side.
You knew just how to help me, and restored all my pride.
Not once asking for thanks, nor expecting the same.
Your gesture of friendship, most needed when it came.
Now I wish I had known, to re-find skies of blue.
All I needed was a friend, and I've found one in you.
Your belief never weakens. How can I ever repay?
I give my true friendship, which will last from this day.
